Adopt A Dog

Before you adopt a dog, ask yourself these questions:

1. Do I have time for a dog? They need to be with you, not stuck on the end of a chain, or always in the backyard. You should plan on keeping and caring for your pet for his/her entire life.

2. Am I prepared for possible problems related to bringing a new dog into my home? Moving into a new home can be scary and dogs may need special attention during the transition into a new family. Check out Dumbfriends League at www.ddfl.org for tips on handling behavioral problems. Go to our "Links" page for a direct link.

3. Do I know what breed or type of dog is best for me and my temperament? Investigate breed characteristics/personalities before adopting to try to find the best match for you.

4. Can I pay for veterinary care? Your dog will need it.

M Andy is a 2.5 y/o male Australian Shepherd Cross who is extremely affectionate and loves to be with people. He is house trained and well mannered in the home. Andy has some basic obedience training, is crate trained and great on leash. He is a smart and energetic dog who would do well in a home that continues his training and provides daily exercise. Andy enjoys going biking, cross country skiing and riding in the truck. He gets along well with the female golden retriever in his foster home, but can be unsure of dogs he does not know. Because of his background it would be best for Andy to be in a home without small children. Andy is a loving dog and will be a great companion. 2007 Sarah Adult
